Richard Graves has been involved in the Marina and Hospitality Industry for over 35 years. He has held Senior Executive positions with International and Domestic Hotels and Marina Management Companies. As the opening Marketing Director for the New York Penta Hotel (1,300 rooms and 85,000 sq.ft. of convention space) his advertising and marketing campaign was used as a case study for a college textbook “ Contemporary Marketing 5th Edition”.
His introduction to marinas came through his position as the VP of Business Development for the renowned Bahia Mar Resort Yachting Center, a 200-room resort and 350-slip marina. After being involved in many other marine related projects, due to his experience and contacts in the marine industry, he was hired by Stiles Development Corporation to oversee the construction and management of Sunrise Harbor, the first Marina in the United States designed specifically to cater exclusively to Mega Yachts. Graves also served as the Executive Vice President of International Marinas, and was responsible for evaluating all possible marina acquisitions and overseeing operations of marinas under management contracts.
He has written articles for “Marina Dockage” and was the U.S. Correspondent for “The Captains Log”. His article on Servicing Mega Yachts was featured in the 2006 issue of “Super Ports”
